Me personally I would not wast time trying to process a wild hog. if there is a risk of my family getting sick then its not worth the risk in my opinion.

its all about game care, its starts in the field, i wash the hog off real good before field dressing, make sure whats on the outside doesn't get on the inside, get it on ice and called as fast as possible, haven't had a problem yet  and ate a lot of it, also use latex gloves when handle a wild hog or for any other game, cuts down on the risk of diseases if you ahave a cut or sore on your hands.

if you don't wamt to eat them donate them to a food bank or something like that. heck i'll even take them

I agree about game care in the field, and i was raised with the principles of if your not going to eat it dont shoot it!we have eaten lots of wild hogg, but when local study in my own county is telling me the hoggs here have the potential of having life altering diseaces i have to stop and think about it,especially when im feeding 7 of my grand children with this meat.I have seen wild hoggs eat other hoggs that were dead and other dead animals, ive yett to see a deer, elk or any other game i might eat have these caracteristics.Every body has their own beliefs and life styles, good luck and God Bless,The Becketts
I do realize its care of the animal and meat but all the studies keep saying that they are not safe to eat. The hog population is so far out of line anyway I don't think it will hurt to be very selective when picking a hog to process just because these are so many of them. I do eat my deer dove duck squarel all the fish and I don't waste them at all but wild hogs are just to nasty for me.
find a charity or someone around you and donate the meat then.  don't just waste it. plenty of hungery people out there that will take it. not sure what area your in, but check local food banks or processors to donate it. I have a guy that will come pick them up for his charity. contact me and i'll give you the info
How far will he come to get the meat and how does he want it.
Like halves quarters or just gutted and skined.
the guy lives in temple, he has gone as far as lubbuck to pick up hogs.I think he'll take them just gutted. as long as its not to long after the harvest. I'll check with him and see if i can get you his number
Temple is only an hour from my place. Is it ok to skin them out because I don't really want the hair in the cooler.

I have heard/read the same thing. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. We have eaten many of them in the past. I do not think it will deter me in consumption of pork.

Is that bacon I smell?
