We all have issues getting our Game Cameras just right. What have you learned from experience about getting that game camera just right? And I'm curious about setting them up for all game. i.e. Hogs, Deer, exotics, Turkey, even Ducks. And what type of cameras are ya'll using?

i cant make my camera or my dads camera last more than 2 days without the batteries going dead yet everyone else can go for a month or more on one set of batteries.. i use a wildgame innovations and he has a stealth cam. any suggestions??
do you get alot of blurred pictures or pictures of nothing, if so try setting your camera up in a place where its not in direct sunlight and isnt focused on anything that casts a shadow or reflection on anything, I had trouble with battery life then I found out it was becasue the camera was always taking pictures because of direct sunlight triggering them, If your not getting alot of pictures of nothing I dont know what to tell you. All of the new cameras should last atleat 100 days in the field. I have a few buddys that are getting over 1 year out of their batteries. Good luck
alot has to do with just the batteries in my opinion it doesnt matter what kind they are or size if there not fresh batteries they will not last long at all the shelf life on them are forever but it depends on what kind of conditions they was in before they made it to the retailer Hot Cold drastic change in temp. I go through alot of batteries but I have video/pic at 30 sec etc. Some times you just get bummed batteries I have bought top of the line batteries and they last for a week and I have went to the Dollar store because it is close and i needed them t and they last for a year so its like anything else you buy some are bad some are good . I have had alot of luck with the scoutgaurd/covert camera not eating batteries as bad so ill will agree with Jarrod . You could upgrade to a larger battery and solar panel to keep them charged that is a option on most camers anymore . Hope that helped a little. I set my cameras about 3 to 3.5 foot waist high on me and make sure they are level with the ground so you always get a good pic. Good luck hunting and pic taking.
I have a stealth cam digital and I use Duracell brand- nothing else. In the warmer months, they can last up to a month and in the colder winter months about a week.
Has anyone tested rechargeable batteries?
rechargeable batteries are nice for awhile in my experience they are great for awhile but they seemed to start to lose charge quickly when the had been recharged multiple times and didnt last as long really when it started to get cold
Yeah I got a game innovations camera setup at my place with rechargeable 4 c batteries works really well I'll get about a month out of it until I have to go charge them up again just plug it into my cigarete lighter for an hour or two pop em back in and I'm good to go

I had a lower priced camera but got a lot of empty shots and tails because it trigerred too slow and ate batteries. I paid the extra money and got a Cuddeback and have not been disappointed. I just got back from a trip in South Texas and got a bunch of great shots of javelinas and whitetail bucks.
Ive been using a brand called DLC Coverts over the past 6 months. They are the best cameras ive ever used. I put out my first DLC in July and didnt change the batteries til the 3rd week in November. I counted around 3000 pics were taken during that time. I also bought another DLC Covert II around October and its still out there on the first set of batteries. And got another DLC for christmas. They are totally infared cameras that run on 8 AA batteries. They are about the same size as a coke can as well!!! Heres the site for the cameras www.dlccovert.com .
Not only are the Coverts the best bang for the buck, but the customer service is second to none. If you have any issues with a unit, they will walk you through all possible avenues to fix the problem. If they cannot get your cam back working over the phone, the will replace it without hassle. Coverts are the only camera that I will use.
