If I had to wait for weather cooler than 60 degrees....I'd never get to go hunting :)

I was in ANWR, on the coleen river, about 150 miles NE of Fort Yukon. There certinaly was a few other hunters on the river. You could hunt away from a river, but you have to consider how you are going to get the meat out. You can not bone out the meat, it has to come out on the bone. You also have to bring out the ribs.

I think I saw you had some questions about moose huntinng in AK. I just got back from the coleen river areas, in ANWR, very NE part of AK. I spent quite a bit of time doing reasearch. I saw 7 bulls, but all were marginal or too small or to far away. I did shoot a blonde grizzly bear however. If you are intrested in more info let me know.

Hey Kanon, I called that moose in from over 500 yards, and it literally stood under my tree stand. the problem was it is a 4 brow tine requirement or 50 inch spread area, believe it or not I let him walk! right down to my friend kieths stand,he didnt hesitate. I wasnt sure if it was big enough, It turned out to be 54". That was a DIY moose hunt on the delta river. My second DIY moose hunt in alaska. The bush flight in and out was 600.00 for the week. Plus an additional 600.00 if you bag a moose.That included the camp which was all set up even with a three wheeler for us to use. We saw several nice moose. You can do a good diy ,succesful Moose hunt cheaper than people realize. you dont have to have a guide or an outfitter. the best resorce you can get you hands on is Cris Batins book" comprehensive guide to Hunting in Alaska", IT is good ,he really knows Alaska.
