I have a connection with your town,, Elyria,,, I think,, My father pronounced it Oleria,, with a southern drawl.
My father and an airman from Elyria, were in crew of 7 or 8 on a B-25 over the islands near Rebauld (SP) in the South Pacific during W W II. The airman from Elyria had to hold my fathers feet while he climbed out of the B-25 rear door to get a life raft which had been shot off the door and was mangled in the tail of the airplane... This was while the B-25 was flying at about 175 miles per hour at a couple 1000 feet. I have the story in my fathers own words on a CD. When I tapped this story my father could not remember the guys name... If you would like a copy of the CD, let me know I will sent it to you,
