We're all Turkeys without God...

Life of the turkey.

Must be rough being a bird that Has the ability to fly but naturally walks most everywhere on the ground. It's gotta be tough trying to differentiate a man made call from that of another turkey when you have so much brush and cover in-between you. If that Turkey would just…

Howdy Hunters from Captain AL

Taking a few minutes, from work at the fire station, to write to you'all hunters. If you need some advice from a farmer/rancher on planting your food plots and getting ready for this years hunting season, give me a holler. It's free and I've been doing it along time. The bucks have dropped there antlers, does are pregnant, flowers are blooming, and the bugs are eating anything green. So far we're getting a little rain and maybe we'll have a good growing season. OH, do your part, kill a…

What to consider when planning a Polar Bear Hunt

Few trophies are more desirable to serious big game hunters than the Polar Bear.  Hunting these giant northern predators is considered by many to be the ultimate adventure.  Here's what you need to know before you consider heading north to the frozen arctic in pursuit of these incredible animals.

Firstly, let's cover the most obvious aspect of hunting in the arctic... It is going to be cold!  You have the be the judge of what temperatures you can handle.  Going on a hunt in…

2012 Mule Deer Hunt

Looking for a quality mule deer hunt (Anywhere) with a good experience attched to it in 2012. I have a "SOUTH TEXAS BRUSH COUNTRY" quality whitetail hunt for trade. I'm even a Taxidermist. My property is in Webb Couty just down the road from the Callahan ranch and Lincoln Ranch. I have a house to stay in while we're there and I'm a pretty good cook. You can pull up their web site to peruse.

Quality whitetail hunt to me means respectable and not anything below 4 1/2 years old. Unless…

Craig's Aoudad

Had my High School wrestling coach down for an opening day weekend hunt for deer, but we didn't see anything on Sat. So we got up Sun. morning and were at our hiding places before dawn. About 7:30 AM I heard a shot and thought it was my coworker that had gotten something. Turned out Coach, Craig, had got his first Aoudad with the help of my coworker. They had actually scared up a doe and the Aoudads were traveling along the same trail when Craig saw them. Mike, the coworker showed him the big… Continue

All youth hunters in Texas

I myself am getting older and this oppertunity is closing on me, but im hear to let all of the Dads that are tring to get their kids into hunting and when i say hunting i mean the right way these oppertunities are conservation and are meant for exsperiance and introduction to the outdoors. There is a youth program under the Texas Parks and wildlife website that is great and chances for drawing a hunt are really good. I last year signed up for it and choose the hunts that i want to do…

Where do you aim?

Where do you "Ethically" shoot your deer?

One can look at this, in my opinion, 2 ways. First, Am I going to eat this and try to get the most meat, ethically, that I can from this animal?

Secondly, Am i going to get this animal shoulder mounted? Of course, I'm going to eat them both but, shooting an animal thru the shoulders, with any centerfire rifle, you might as well forget about that meat unless you like tenderized blood shot jello. The only reason for shooting an animal…

Frenship FFA Boosters looking to raffle a hunt.

I am not sure if this is where I need to go but thought I would give it a shot.  Todd, you can delete this if I have overstepped here.

I am on the Raffle Committee for the Frenship FFA Boosters and we are working on putting our main fundraiser together.  It will be a raffle event at the end of year FFA Banquet in May 2012.  The funds raised during this raffle go toward supporting the FFA kids’ trips to stock shows, competitions, as well as helping out at the local level for their own…

Killing the Outdoors

These so called hunting shows that I'm seeing on Tv, what a joke. They're all about killing animals and getting it on film. What's even worse than that is that they're getting paid to do it by their so called sponsors. They want to make it sound like it's about the experience but I know better. Ben Franklin has his hand in the pot. I hope some of that money is going to the hard working farmer/rancher that is feeding all of the wildlife. Better yet, I hope the farmer/rancher takes his trusty…

Journal of an Alaskan Bear hunt

As someone once said,” Life is a journey not a destination, and who knows just what tomorrow might bring.”   OK, so I stole that one from the Aerosmith song, but it sounds like a damn good mantra to live by if you ask me and I am always on the look for tomorrow’s next adventure.   Speaking of adventure and destinations, outside of New Zealand, Africa, the North West Territory or few wild places left in our  ever shrinking world, Alaska seems to top my destination list.  I can not think of…
