Where do you "Ethically" shoot your deer?

One can look at this, in my opinion, 2 ways. First, Am I going to eat this and try to get the most meat, ethically, that I can from this animal?

Secondly, Am i going to get this animal shoulder mounted? Of course, I'm going to eat them both but, shooting an animal thru the shoulders, with any centerfire rifle, you might as well forget about that meat unless you like tenderized blood shot jello. The only reason for shooting an animal thru the shoulders is to not mess up the cape for mounting.

If I'm meat hunting, everything gets it in the neck or head. If you can't shoot an animal there stay the hell out of the woods and deer blinds. With todays artillary and sights, you should be shoouting 1/2" MOA or less at 100 yards or stay home and practice until you can. Your not doing the animals any favors by gut/flank shooting or crippling them to suffer.

Look at it this way. How would you like to be shot? In the belly to suffer a painful death or in the head and die quickly?

Afterall, we are the Earth's Stewards so, lets do the right thing when we harvest one of "GOD'S" animals, do it ethically.
